I wonder, sometimes, why God does the things he does. (And if anyone breaks in and says he works in mysterious ways, I'll scream.)
Science isn't quite sure why we dream. THey just know it's good, beneficial. That people go mad without proper REM cycles, and eventually die. Some dreams are pure nonsense. Some are... just crazy.
Some are not.
Some dreams you have, and... It's like that X-Files quote that I remember, from watching it in bed with Ash. About how dreams are the answers to questions we haven't figured out how to ask yet, or something like that.
I'd like to think that God communicates with me in subtle ways, but this is...
Or maybe it's not God at all. Maybe it's the devil. Doubt. Choice. Regret. Sadness. Pain.
...This is one of those times I was glad I woke up alone. No one needs to see this.

I honestly think dreams are a sort of defrag of the human mind. It is your conscious mind catching glimpses of your subconscious mind sorting memories related to current events and storing new ones in context with the old ones. That's why some dreams have meanings since your subconscious is makeing connections your conscious mind hasn't yet and is dragging out old memories that had faded a little.
That's not to say the God or the Devil couldn't communicate to you in your dreams though...

(Chuckles) Point. I suppose I should have assumed I'd find you here.July 16 2005, 19:00:15 UTC 6 years ago
Re: dreams, eh?
surely you didn't expect me to merely be contained by the confines on the earthly realm? nowhere near enough places for me to run amuck...amuck, amuck, amuck!!!back to the dreams though..the only thing i thought of (since i'm all about dorking out) was an episode of star trek in which no one got rem sleep, no one dreamed and they all went nuts. firey death.
oh, and i used the infamous "your skull as a decorative fruit basket bad" at work. purrrfect.

Re: dreams, eh?
The Episode you're talking about is called 'Tyken's Rift'. The enterprise is caught, along with an alien vessle of unknown origin, in a rift that requires a chemical recation to break out of. Naturally, it's the Betazed Councilor Troi to actually starts GETTING REM sleep, and in her dreams, the aliens communicate with her.But that's not before some freaky shit happens.
